He will give strong support on the theoretical side! This morning I also communicated with the designer, and we decided to install short longitudinal beams! I’ll draw a diagram myself first to see how it looks!!
It needs a little bit, until I understood what you mean with short longitudinal beams. You are are talking about the carlings. You should than also think about the ledges which runs parallel to the deck beams.
The picture shows the layout of the deck beams for HMS Triton, 1771, another 28gun frigate from the revised mermaid class. I would not go with your design in the midship section.
