Hello folks,

I too have decided to build the kit. I hope Richard can help me. The kit is really very nice and well made. I just had to build it, even if my Athena is a bit neglected for it. I'm very curious to see if I can build this scale without completely messing it up.

I've decided to post a few more pictures so that you can follow the construction steps.
I hope for your help and look forward to every comment ...

The delivery in the small box was really new to me. Someone has put a lot of thought into it. Really space-saving and pretty. The box consists of only 6 parts, which have been laser-cut and glued together.

The contents are really rich and of excellent quality! Great laser cut! However, great care should be taken when removing the individual components as everything looks really tiny and delicate. Apart from the laser-cut plywood panels, they look quite sturdy. I'm looking forward to seeing how I can detach the parts.

I had never built a ship with a platform before. I'm curious to see how I get on with it.
Now let's take a look at the frames.

Removing them is a bit tricky and I don't really dare to use the scalpel firmly. I hope nothing breaks.

I have now removed the frames. Unfortunately, two of them broke because I pressed too hard. Stupid. I'll just have to glue them with superglue. I hope they hold.

Hello folks,

So, now we come to the first frames. I should sort them according to the instructions in the manual so that the markings for the later gunports are all on the outside. That's what I did. Although I can't really understand why. The formers are really incredibly thin and I simply have fingers that are far too fat ... So always use a lot of feeling ...

Thanks for starting this build-log of this tiny 1:160 little fellow, Günther. Just like the log of Richard, I will follow it with great interest and sat my chair.
Perhaps with some other builders and those of the stern section, it will grow to a ‘Enterprize/Enterprise 1:160 Group Build Area’. For sure I will start also one, but first I have to finish my current build.
Regards, Peter

Looking good Gunther,

Really glad you have started on this. You seem very adept at working in miniature.

On the double frames, all gunports are on the outsides. You can see why in the following picture of my frames prior to cutting away and tidying up the ledge slots......

Hey Richard,

Thank you very much for your comment. That makes me very happy. I keep looking at your build report, as we are building the centre section of the HMS Enterprise and I'm curious to see how it goes. Unfortunately, I have to say that your comment came too late and I misinterpreted the building instructions and placed all the gun ports facing outwards in one direction. Now I can't remove them and have to come up with something else. Such a beginner's mistake is really embarrassing, but completely normal for me ...

Your welcome. It's good to share ideas.

Not a serious mistake. Cut new ones. The mistake will be hidden by the planking and pretty much invisible in the interior.
Keep at it and don't hesitate to ask. It's a really enjoyable project.
I can't wait for the bow section - assuming they will develop one. I really hope so. Be great to have the entire ship.

Hey Richard,

Thank you very much for your support. I'm very happy to accept it and look forward to the exchange. I'm curious to see how the two colours pear and boxwood work ... :D

Hey folks,

After sorting, I started gluing the formers together for the gunports. I have to say, I can understand why gunports are so much fun. It's just nice to see how a sailing ship was built, and I'm beginning to understand the fascination of building a ship from scratch. All the parts that go together. It's madness.

Oops, I'm rambling. More concentration please, Günther ...!!!

After sorting and gluing the frames, they had to be inserted into the platform provided. I have to admit, it's really very tiny and without my glasses I'd be lost ... I can't see a thing. Take a look at the pictures ... :D Thumbsup

It's really fun to see how the framework grows with the frames. It fascinates me and I think I'm a bit proud that at the moment not all the frames are broken or so damaged that I can no longer use them ...

Nice work of your frames in the jig, Günther. And nice overview pictures.
In most builds you never have enough clamps. Now it’s never haver enough cloth pins.
