Here is a little teaser of what’s to come in Chapter 4, these are the main deck subfloors on which we will be doing our first planking, just need very slight adjustments to fit my model.

While I’m making and installing the fancy moldings to the QGs and aft fascia I also got started on Chapter 4.

The first job is to install the Orlop decks that will only just be visible so they are laser etched AYC panels.

I made using some black card some blackout panels to stop anything from being seen through the side of the framing, then sanded and used WOP to finish the panel before gluing it in.

Then the main deck beam parts where sanded and glued together and are awaiting being painted red on the sides that will be seen.

All this needs to be repeated forward before the subfloors can be fitted.

Great work! The stitch gluing is a great way to insure proper camber and bonding between the deck and bulkhead interface. I just started building my Portland and have been following you build log with great interest.
 
Beautiful work Trussben. There is such a feeling of completion when you can complete the QGs, especially when they are as perfect and beautiful as on your model.
That 3D printed structure helps so much. I still remember in my sleepless nights, the agony and challenges of building them with wood pieces, on the HMS Bellona CAF kit.

"Stitch gluing" seems to be the technique of introducing a small dab of glue in each hole, to secure the sub-floors with the deck beams.
