HMS Victory Mamoli 1:90 Scale

Well after finishing my first build (La Mirage) I'm now starting the second ship in my collection of started ship models. This is the HMS Victory by Mamoli in the 1 to 90 scale. It depicts the ship in 1765. I've already made a few changes to the gun deck to look a little more realistic. I think this ship will be a little more difficult then the Mirage because there seems to be a lot more rigging in this model, so I'm really looking forward to that time (Hopefully next year) when I start on the rigging. Hopefully I find enough time out in the shop to keep this build flowing smoothly.

Hi Kent, I think the yellow on Victory was more like yellow ochre but with a bit more yellow in it. I have seen models where the yellow is orange bordering on pink.

Thank you very much for the info. I read both articles, now I have to do some thinking.

Hi Kent, you will have noticed that one theory in the articles says the yellow could have been natural wood. What may be nice is using obechi timber with a very pale yellowish stain. Most models are never inspected closer than six inches and as the saying goes "distance lends enchantment to the view" so, if it 'looks' like it is painted yellow......
Something else for you to thinks about (sorry)

For all of you who thought I had fallen overboard, I was able to get back out to the shop and do some work on the Victory. I've been working on and off it for most of the winter, however posting pictures has been the real problem. So here are a few shots to catch me up to date. Well back out to the shop I go.
