HMS Victory

Hi all, having done more research I feel HM Armed Cutter Sherborne (Sherbourne) would be a good start before I even think about tackling Victory. She was designed by Sir Thomas Slade so I like the tie to Victory and I also owned a home in Sherborne Dorset which is what she was named after. The shipwright was (I believe) Joseph Harris and I understand he oversaw the maintainanxe of Victory to keep her seaworthy. He and Victory's shipwrights reported into Slade, although that is all I have researched so forgive me if I'm weak on the facts. Badger also looks fun, although not as much detailed about her I would like, perhaps that is a project in itself! I understand the best 2 Kit options for Sherborne are made by Vanguard or Caldercraft? Although I yield to the skill of this forum!

Hoi Jimbo
I write this in English and has translated into German!
Lieber Jim,

Jim, have been building for about 10 years. Variety of challenges throughout. Built the Caldercraft Victory two years ago. Fantastic kit. It is difficult but there are a variety of build logs and videos out there that really help. If you choose a difficult/expensive kit I recommend going through a dealer for parts support in case something is missing or broken when you open the box. I have had great luck with Cornwall Model boats in the UK and Premier Model Ships that is based overseas but has a US rep. Both have been responsive to support issues and both have had reasonable pricing and shipping. Just my two cents, am sure there are other options, it does pay to shop around.
Vr,
Andy
Thanks Andy - great advice - I am based in New York now so will need to find a decent dealer - I'll let you know!

I know it seems obvious but when you do the unboxing and something is missing/broken it is nice to be able to get some meaningful help. Good luck with whatever you choose
