Hello. I'm working on my first ever build: a cheap ($30) Chinese 1:200 scale model of HMS Victory similar to the one found in this thread:

I am making steady progress and am currently debating in my head whether I want to go ahead and copperplate the hull or not. If I decide to NOT plate the hull with copper, what color would it be? What was the color of the hull beneath the waterline before 1780? I've seen some models painted black/dark grey/equivalent of the colors between the yellows, and I have seen some models painted white. I can't seem to find any concrete sources on the interwebs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Attached is a pic of my model so far.

Thanks!
J
