Humor - we need so much to laugh

No, the difference between buying a boat and buying a model boat is that the second happiest day of your life won't be selling the model boat.
Are you sure? There's that saying: "build the first boat, model, whatever, ..., for your enemy, the second one for a friend and the third one for yourself". You still may sell a boat that does no longer please you, but a messed up model will most likely only get a Viking funeral ... And that's nothing to be happy about.
And, replace 'motorboat' with 'Lego kit'.

What I said relates to a proverb we have in the U.S. "The happiest day of a man's life is the day he buys a boat. The second happiest day of a man's life is the day he sells the boat."

I think his point is that buying a 1:1 boat doesn’t really get expensive until after you own it.

“A boat-owner and his money are soon parted”

Boat: (n) A hole in the water, usually lined with wood or fiberglass, into which vasts sums of money are dumped.

Two happiest days of my life ; The day I bought my fishing boat and the day I sold it!

I hope we can agree to disagree. Selling finished models......heck yes, give me the money every time, those have been very happy days :) A little bit of the money goes into materials for the next build and the rest for fun things.
