I just wanted to say stay safe to all the people who are going to be affected by hurricane Milton.
Thanks Bill and all
We are a bit east of Naples and it looks like we will get the southern edge so should be okay with wind gusts under 70 mph (112kph) at most. Tested the home generator yesterday and have plenty of fuel so good to go if we do lose power for a few days. Stocked up with food and water, a case of Cotes de Rhone and case of Guiness (cans with the nitrogen ball) so won't be thirsty if we lose water service. :)
Thanks again for your kind thoughts.
Allan

Prayers to all whom have been affected by this year's Gulf of Mexico hurricanes. I know that those of us who live along the gulf coast are so relieved when these terrible storms happen to miss our areas, but we are also mindful and prayerful for those who are unfortunate to be in the paths of these monsters.

In our neighborhood within Tampa city limits, the devastation is incredible. Trees on top of houses is very common, electric lines down and flooding in areas that never flooded before. We have 6 or 7 large trees down in our property, thats 40 to 60 foot tall trees destroyed. One hit our roof the other missed us by inches. The Chicken coup unscaved and chickens still laying eggs. We are blessed compared to many. Thanks to all well wishers.

Glad the chickens came out safe, you still have source for fresh food!

We started with chickens in March and now get about 10-12 eggs a day, we spread the wealth with neighbors when we have excess to our needs.

Hi Kurt, the chickens are great. Our property is two acres within city limits and the chickens are a joy to see them running around. It is peaceful. I do not like eggs but my wife and sons do. It really is an escape from a stressful job and all the political BS that happens in this state. The detached garage is my shipyard bottom floor and upstairs my office before the storm. Thankfully it did not suffer any damage.

All fine here too, at 20+ miles inland from Tampa. Only a section of the fence was damaged. It's a new development with very young trees, many of them are laying now against the floor because they aren't rooted yet. Also some palms damage and some lost shingles here and there.

Nevertheless, there have been substantial damage around. We were 48 hours without power. Some sectors around are still without power. But nothing compared to the damage suffered by the coastal areas.

Milton was really scary. The houses on this development survived this one. Let see the next one. If you zoom the picture you will see all the white Kevlar shutters protection on windows and doors.

Best
Daniel

For me, Milton was a lot like Helene. Wife and I are healthy. I live a bit north of Tampa (Homosassa) and we had a lot of trees come down around us, but no property damage. Our young lemon tree was laying over on it's side (not broken, just laid over because the ground was so soggy the roots were able to move). I propped it back up and put a stake in the ground to tie it to. Hopefully it will be ok. We were without power for about 18 hours, so we lost all the food in the refrigerator and freezer. That's an easy fix. No flooding here at my place. Many up in Crystal River were not so lucky. I frequent a restaurant up in crystal river that is built up about 18 inches above the ground and they said they had water 8" deep inside. it ruined their wood floors which are all warped now.
