Dear all,

I’m dropping a quick message here because I believe some of you might find it interesting. Don’t worry—I have no intention of spamming, and I’m well aware that so-called 3D designers constantly posting “service offers” are a plaque. I definitely don’t see myself as one of them.

That being said, I’m French, based in Paris, and I’ve been passionate about ocean liners for as long as I can remember. A few years ago, I started designing ships I had been on and those that particularly fascinated me. Some of you may already be familiar with my work (LinersWorld)—I’ve now created over 100 ships, the vast majority being civilian vessels, specifically for 3D printing (https://linersworld.fr). There is a huge lack of liner and cruise ship kits or models, which is one of the reasons I started this.

This isn’t my usual professional field—far from it, in fact—but since I’m going through a challenging professional period, I’m currently dedicating myself fully to this passion.

That’s it—I won’t make this any longer and hope it’s ok! Happy to be part of this community!

Welcome to SOS. Glad to have you. I only know of a few civilian cruise ships offered by various kit manufacturers one is the titanic and the other is Queen Mary I think.
I am not sure if this is what you are referring to or not.
SOS does have a few builders here building such models.
I looked at your website and very impressive models. Very nice. I hope that perhaps more people here will become interested in what you have to offer.

Welcome to the forum. There are too few of us interested in merchant vessels. Not 3-D printed but you might be interested in the amazing collection of merchant vessels modeled by Bob Wilson (shipbuilder). He posts these almost daily here on the forum.

Note to Donnie: Titanic and Queen Mary were Liners, not Cruise Ships. So, what’s the difference?

Liners: Ships carrying passengers and possibly freight, sailing on a fixed schedule between two ports. Both Titanic and Queen Mary were designed to to sail in the North Atlantic trade; Southampton- New York.

Cruise Ships: Vessels carrying passengers on round trip itinerary to various ports. The ship leaves and returns to the same port.

Of course the design of the two types is/was totally different. Liners were high powered vessels with excellent sea keeping characteristics. Cruise Ships are floating theme parks.
