You can EDIT past messages. I do it all the time to correct spelling mistakes.

you can never make the post go away only admin can do that
but what can be done is to "edit" your post and just type oops and that is all that will show

as the topic title says "i am giving up on this"

over the years i have given up on so many projects and ideas i lost count. some reasons are my research reached a dead end so i could not continue, sometimes i messed up so bad i just scrapped the entire build and considered it a learning experence. lost interest when something more exciting came along.
nothing wrong with giving up on a project
