Can someone point me to a definition of "jeer". All I can find is hurling insults at the opposing team and I don't think that's it:)

A heavy tackle with double or treble blocks with the upper blocks at the head of the lower masts of square-rigged ships. Used for lifting or lowering the course and its yard. The fall is usually taken to a capstan between the masts or to a power winch. Some modern ships do not fit jeers and rely on the lifts, or on dockyard cranes, for this operation. The jeer capstan was often the scene for punishments in early sailing ships.

Well I'm getting old. I forgot that I have the Kindle version of "Rigging Period Models". I recognized the page layout/font. I can't keep Kindle books in the pile that surrounds my recliner. Thanks Kurt

What's really disappointing is when you build a feature on your model, only to find out later that it's not correct, and the place you find that information was in your e-book directory all along.
