K63 HMS Picotee 1941 1/48 scale early short forecastle Flower Class Corvette

I’m not even sure what more I can add to all my previous “WOW” comments; your model is absolutely stunning. The craftsmanship is beautiful, and the intricate details combined with the subtle weathering make her look impressively realistic. Bravo, Jack!
Thank you for saying so Jim, your views are much respected.

All the best JJ..

Stunning result, JJ. I remain in awe of your ability to actualize all the detailed structures at scale. Congratulations! Display her with pride.
Thank you Paul, Namabiiru has it solved. But I am glad she turned out quite nice as this will, most likely, be my last big build. Time and tide.... But then again I really do want to build HMS Lord Nelson!

Kind regards JJ..

Although HMS Picotee is now completed it will be a while before I can make a stand and remove it from my workshop. So I thought I would show some more pics.. Where Picotee is sitting it is hard to photograph other than the port side,(except the first few that are older!).
Good evening Jack. A remarkable model Jack. I always love your work but you certainly outdid yourself here. Congratulations. Cheers Grant

Thanks Grant, it is great to have experienced builders like yourself comment on what I try to do, because honestly I do not know if what I builds looks ok, or just stupidly overindulgent.

Well, it’s not the latter, but neither is it the former. To say that what you have produced just looks okay is a gross injustice! Stupendous would probably be closer to the mark!

Finally back up and running, maybe not all cylinders but OK. So with new found energy I knocked out a display stand for Picotee, as you will see it was with the minimum of effort and will be replaced asap.. I made it so that I can say the end. Building this ship has been a real blast, and something I rarely say, a really pleasing outcome maybe even the best I have made, though HMS Speedy is still my favourite.
It was quite a challenge working with no exact plans and only one photograph to go on. I am sure there are mistakes I have not spotted, but I have seen nothing to make me go 'oh fiddlesticks' or a lot worse.
Once again thanks to Marco for his 3D bits, and thanks to anyone who has taken a look.

The last pics..

My congratulations as well! Your craftsmanship and skill truly shine through in this build; the Corvette looks absolutely wonderful. Kudos to you for achieving such a fine result!

Congratulations with this very nice model, Jack. You can be very proud with this result. Very inspirational.
Regards, Peter

This was a a fun journey to follow. Happy I could support, if only a little. Happy for you that you can call it the end. And what a great ship she is. And perhaps even more importantly, I’m pretty sure nobody in the forum would have known HMS Picotee. So there. Well done.

Good morning Jack. Fabulous! One of my favourite models thus far…..and that is saying something as I generally prefer wooden sailing ships. Cheers Grant

Truly deserves a place in a naval museum! I have always likes this ship since reading the superb book "The Cruel Sea" by Nicholas Monsarrat. There is an old British movie made from the book that deserves to be seen.
