Katy of Norfolk

First of all a warm welcome here on board of our friendly forum.

Your question:
I guess it is the kit with the full pre-shaped hull, or?
Like this one ?
In the video is visible (I guess it is correct) correct place of the wales.....

Bending:
Often it is depending on the type of timber which is in the kit content for the wales.
Often watering for appr. 15 min (some wood needs more time) and some heat is helping to bend the sticks to the correct and final form.
Here you can find a relative actual topic descriping more in detail the plank benders.
Your Katy has relative strait wales, so it should be possible without very special tools.
To attach the wales to the hull - best is to use the glue you are usually use. Problematic is the full hul, so you have maybe problems to use clamps.
So it is also a question, which tools you have to give you best hint of how you could do it....

Maybe you show the problem also in photos, so we can get a better impression about the real situation and materials

Thank you for your reply, Uwek. I have the solid hull as is shown in your photo. A beautiful job I might add.
This is my first attempt at a wooden kit ship. I have worked at the bending of the wales using the hot water soaking method and an electric plank bending tool. I also have a manual strip bending tool.
My biggest problem is trying to make the compound curve near the bow. I am not sure how I could clamp the wale to the hull while it dries into the proper shape. I have a fair assortment of modeling clamps as I have spent the last 50 years or so building craftsman wood kits for H.O. scale model railroads or scratch building them.
I actually started building plastic ship kits when I was 12 and 13 years of age. The first was a model of the Gertrude Thebaud, which I still have, and then I built the Marx model of the Clipper Ship "Sea Witch". It had tinplate decks. I never installed the sails as I really liked to show all of the rigging. I later sold it to a man who offered a large sum of money. At least it was a large sum to a 17-year-old in 1959. Then I got the model train bug.
I did, however, work with a group here in Cincinnati in the building of a 1/4" scale model of the "Constitution". I mainly worked on the cannon carriages and then later on some of the rigging. It was a great model and of museum quality. I am not sure what happened to it. I believe it was sold to a museum.
Thanks, Bill
