I was wondering if anyone knows how a kevel cleat sits to the inner bulwarks ? Do they sit parallel with only the cross beam connecting with the bulwark (see pic,) or do theyIMG_20230416_082557.jpg tilt in so that also the bottom of the curve touches as well ? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers JJ..

On Vasa (1628) there are two ways of mounting kevels. The larger type are mounted directly in the caprail, while smaller ones are nailed to the inboard edge of the caprail, with the foot of the horns nailed to a spacer blcok on the inboard face of the top timbers.
