Everybody should build his model how he likes, kit or scratch, and in the detail and accuracy he wants and is able to do.......important I think is to try to improve the builds from model to model

how can I go about ordering a timbering set for Alfred in a bigger scale from you ? Is that possible ?

you can custom make a timbering set any way you want to any scale and any type of wood.

The thing is before jumping into such a project preplanning is a key factor. you don't want to get into it and find out you bit off more than you can chew or run into something way beyond your skill level.
just look at the stern first off there is all those carvings . Here is where you contact someone like Mike and ask hey is it possible can you CNC a blank for all this carving? what about the guns who has them in the scale you are working in or do you plan on turning them or job it out.

part of the fun with such a project is the pre planning, sourcing out parts and work. figuring out this or that. Here is where SOS becomes a community of people all helping YOU.

Brian what you would need to do is find out if someone can cut out a blank like these for the oliver Cromwell.
I tried to laser cut them but the laser I use is 800 watts and it just fries anything this small you need a small laser to do such delicate work.

you can go a step further and CNC sections at different levels which would give you an outline for detail

Thanks for the info and photos Dave. I have Romero's Warrior practicum which is the same as Alfred and would love to build a 1/64 scale version of it.
The thought of cutting all those frames really does put me off the project along with the wood carvings.

What about models of the first wooden warship with steam power, does anyone think there might be an interest in this category of ships?

maybe a cross section to include the engine room
