New models in development!
Attentive visitors will have noticed that there are currently two new models in the Kolderstok program in development:
- D’Halve Maen in scale 1 on 50
- Dutch Wijdschip in scale 1 on 72
D'Halve Maen is based on a description and set of old drawings by Mr. F. Baay, (drawings and book from 1942 – 1948) and a model like that made in the late 1930s by G.C.E. Crone.
The broadship has Witsen as its original source, and from that a number of drawings elaborated by Ab Hoving and René Hendrickx and plans to make this ship in paper. Matthias Noback received approval from Hoving to work on this model in wood as well.
D'Halve Maen is built in the familiar way of keel with spans, decks and shelving of the hull with straight slats, the Wijdship was developed in the way that the Speel-yaght and the Fluytship of Kolderstok are also built. So with already lasered leather boards in the correct shape.
There is a report on both models at the NVM model building forum: https://www.modelbouwforum.nl/threads/dhalve-maen-kolderstok.290386/ and
In addition, a construction report has also been started of the Wijdship, specifically intended to see how much the precut skin passages of this ship are suitable. Builder in this case is Hans Groenenberg: https://www.modelbouwforum.nl/threads/wijdtschip-smalschip-hans-groenenberg.290892/
Just to clarify - especially regarding the Wijdschip, the packages for this are not yet available. Further elaborating and making production ready will certainly take a few months. Of course, you can subscribe to the packages by sending an email to kolderstok@gmail.com
