Once upon a time, in 2019, before COVID-19 and the war, I was on Cyprus on vacation and I saw the Kyrenia ship (wiki) replica (a ship of the 4th century BC) in Limassol Marina and decided to make a small cardboard model of it, as a gift. After these 7 years I saw the Kyrenia II replica last summer, in August 2025, she's still there! Then, in 2019, I went to a local supermarket and bought an office knife, a white glue, paper and so on to make something sitting by the sea side in Limassol. The threads I borrowed in the cloth repair shop on the ground floor of the building. Honestly, I've failed to complete it on Cyprus and did it when I was at home already, but I found the pictures recently and decided to share with you.

The technology of the build was a bit different from a standard cardboard modelling I used to in my childhood, it is more common to the wooden kit/scratch builds, but I've done it just for fun and I hope you would enjoy it!

So this is where I started (a notebook as a source of paper and cardboard, the "plans" were printed on a reception of a hotel nearby, thanks to them):

The frame construction procedure was as follows. As a staple I took a part of a wooden plank.
Each frame was almost cut off, with a bit of paper scotch to keep the parts together.
Then I started assembling it:

Very cool! One of our oldest well recorded ships. And was it attacked by pirates on her final voyage? There is some intriguing evidence... Are the plans available on the web?

I am not sure what do you mean. If you mean "plans" like a set of ready-to-use drawings with all parts, cross-sections and assembling details - I haven't seen, but probably there are.

The internet has a lot of info on her, staring from this article: Richard Steffy, The Kyrenia Ship: An Interim Report on its Hull Construction.", 1985. This is a scientific article on Naval Archeology, covering hull excavation and resulting with the hull lines drawing, created by the author. The lines are widely used across the web and in paper, there is for instance a book Patrice Pomey, 3. Naval Architecture. The Hellenistic Hull Design: Origin and Evolution, 2020 - it is based on Steffy's article concerning the Kyrenia shipwreck.

As for me, you can see my own "working plans" in the first post of the thread. I was using a Sketch 3D model, probably this one which is also using the Steffy's hull lines. I've printed the hull drawings in an hotel nearby and took a general drawing of the Kyrenia II. Y, that was all I had then in 2019.

Now, as far as I see, there are kits to build it:
Chinese wooden kit, built on this forum by @PT-2 : Kyrenia Ship, 290 BCE Reconstruction POF Build Log PT-2 [COMPLETED BUILD]
I was able to easily find a simple resin kit and so on.

So there are options now! For me it was just a vacation project, inspired by seeing the replica in Limassol Marina.
