La Couronne-To paint or not to paint

This is absolutely gorgeous with the wood! (I'm a sucker for natural wood, esp this gorgeous.) Love the Blue with it, but I wouldn't like the white stripe. It's all personal choice.

May I add my opinion: setting aside any concern for historicity I would simply finish all with a matte sheen polyurethane. I prefer water based MinWax polyurethane matte finish. Thus one illustrates the construction techniques and the beauty of the build rather than the finished ship as seen historically. We don’t need to apply white paint to know it was there…wicked good work!
