This is absolutely gorgeous with the wood! (I'm a sucker for natural wood, esp this gorgeous.) Love the Blue with it, but I wouldn't like the white stripe. It's all personal choice.

I also decided not to paint the hull and applied a transparent satin varnish finish. The result in attach.

The colors on the upper parts i obtain mixing Testors- Model Master enamel paints.I think they are no more produced.These are from my 30 years old reserve but they still do their job i think

May I add my opinion: setting aside any concern for historicity I would simply finish all with a matte sheen polyurethane. I prefer water based MinWax polyurethane matte finish. Thus one illustrates the construction techniques and the beauty of the build rather than the finished ship as seen historically. We don’t need to apply white paint to know it was there…wicked good work!

This is a variation on the ongoing debate about authenticity vs. art. My view is why waste all that time getting the hull planking perfect if you're going to cover it up with paint?
