Tiziano, I am absolutely thrilled with your work!
Thank you for answering. That is what I was planning to do on my build as well but it looked so clean that I was having doubts as to how you did it. Respect.Hi Paul and thanks, I soldered a 1mm tube with a 0.5mm hole
The way Tiziano did it is so much easier to get to scale and look like the real thing. Even if you can bend the metal it can be weak at the sharpest part of the bends and have a tendency to break. Another alternative is make one out of wood, then use it to make a high temp silicone mold and cast them in pewter or similar metal. If this was a rudder hinge for example, make the master and cast to the longest one needed then trim the length of the arms to suit once removed from the mold. If it was one or two I would solder them. For many pieces you may find it worth making the mold. Not quite the four primary methods to skin the proverbial cat, at least there are two to skin this particular cat.how did you make the tunnel in the hinge for the pin?
Thanks, Allan. I didn't see any solder or residue so I wondered if that was the way he made these hinges. A joy to see this masterful build. I need to make 12 hinge pairs for my Saint Philippe and they are a bit ornate so I am exploring options. I just soldered hinges on my Kingfisher but I lost a bit of fidelity to scale - I'll want to improve on that effort this time around. The way Tiziano did it is so much easier to get to scale and look like the real thing.
