La Licorne 1:72 (Hachette)

Hello, here is a construction that I left aside for a while. This is "La Licorne" (inspired by Tintin) in 1:72 scale. Compared to other kits of this kind, this one is better quality, and the assembly instructions are very clear. I took it out of the attic to move on it.

Looks like a good kit, but I don't understand why some companies use MDF for their bulkheads. The dust is toxic when sanding it.

MDF is much cheaper than plywood... and more stable to climate changes specifically moisture (always flat like glass)

Hi there. I have a hard time choosing between these two colors of red. The top one is recommended by Hachette but I find it too dark. Normally the red is brighter on these ships? like the red of the board ? thank you

Hi xander898. Just curious if this build progressed past this point? I recently got a partially started (up to step 9-10) set for this model, so I'm doing a bit of research trying to get ahead of any of the harder challenges.

Hi, I painted the hull, I am currently working on the rear castle, but the metal parts supplied by Hachette do not have the right curvature. I am trying to find a solution

Oh, that's great to see it's still ongoing. It's looking very nice!

What's the problem with the curvature of the castle pieces? I was a bit concerned about the weight of the metal parts, so I had a thought about 3D printing them... which might be the way to go if there's a significant issue with them as provided.

Après avoir visité votre site, j'aimerais savoir si quelqu'un construit aussi la Licorne en ce moment, afin que nous puissions partager une expérience commune et échanger nos impressions

Salut, beau travail, tu es un peu plus avancé que moi, j'ai un soucis justement sur le chateau arrière, les pièces métalliques devraient être legerement courbées pour se coller ensemble, et ce n'est pas le cas, je ne vois pas comment les tordre

Sur ta dernière photo la pièce arrondie bleue sert uniquement de gabarit pour tracer l'emplacement mais ne doit pas être utilisée (collée), et comme je peux voir tu as aussi "surlatter" le bordage en dessous de cette pièce (les +/- 9 lattes blanches) ce qui te pose probablement problème pour ajuster les pièces latérales du château. C'est mon avis, à toi de voir
