Hello

Like I mentioned in other topics I have some side projects that pull me out off wood modeling.
Fortunately(or not) I really soaked in 3d modeling. Unknowingly I made my first model from Caffieri sculpts:)
Nothing too serious I don't plan making whole wood model, just a fun project I always admire those magnificent drawings of sculptures, monsters and figures.
I guess now I can bring them in to three dimensional on my own

Very nice, indeed. As a quest, try to do the whole frigate out of plastic on your 3D printer. You might even want to market it as a kit!

One can only imagine how complex state of the art constructions they were. Victory still be touched with hand, but all of great ships from XVII century are only available to us by models or imagination.

Museum in Brest an Paris still have real size figureheads and carvings

Don't forget the Vasa in Stockholm!

Whilst not a typical ship of the XVII century example, (it was an over-ambituous, failed experiment), it survives well enough to give a sense of the age.

The frigates USS Constitution and USS Constellation still exist.
