I made this model four years ago, when I left it in oblivion, and I never published it, because as I said before, there are others of these that are better to see. In any case, here it is.
Langskip or Drakkar
1 History
The correct term for these boats was Langskip or Longship in English, but in general they have been called Drakkar. The model represents a type of Viking boat, found in 1880, near Gokstad, in Norway. The boat was built in the second half of the 10th century. The good nautical capacity of this boat was demonstrated in 1893, when a replica was made, in which Magnus Anderson made the crossing from Norway to the United States of America. The boat was 24m long and 5.2m wide. The keel and the strakes were made of oak. The ship was propelled by up to 32 oars and had a rectangular sail estimated to be 10x7.5 meters.

4 Model Construction
I developed the model based on some plans that I obtained from the internet. Like the other works, I redrew the keel, the frames and in this case the strakes in AutoCAD, which have unique shapes, each one differs from the other.
I had the keel and frame sections printed on 4 mm plywood, the strakes on 1.5 mm plywood. I thought it would be a simple model, but the entire alignment of the structure was out of square, and the strakes had to be made about 1.0 mm, because they did not curve well at the bow and stern. Tired, I abandoned this little boat for several months, until December when I restarted. I partly corrected the horrors, but they are there.
The hull, rigging and deck accessories were stained dark walnut, the deck was left natural wood color. The shields that are fixed to the gunwale were prepared. I made them in various designs and simple colors, because it is probable that the men belonged to different clans.
The base of the mast was assembled, the yard supports and the oars were made. Other deck elements such as the rowers' seats, merchandise, water barrel. The side rudder was also placed on the port side. In the making of the sail, a thin cotton cloth painted in black and red was used. I was not convinced by this model and it remained for months without a dragon's head or tail; In the end I assembled them to give the Langskip to my grandson, luckily the model is still intact
