We use GOO GONE to remove pesky labels on products.
Tried it today to move laser char
Voila it works like a dream
Spray it on , let it sit for a minute and than go over lightly with sand paper
Will not damage the wood surface
Can be purchased here in the US in stores like Walmart for about $ 4,00

Give it a try08e864c7-8588-41d4-81db-59d5fe460d7c_1.bcfd49ca16b8996419fe8bdbca409167.png

I am presently using it to remove char from the cooking stove on my Le Requin.
Zero negative effect I am using Titebond
The chemical evaporates totally and when dry will not leave any marks on the wood
It should work on larger areas like your Bonhomme Richard just as well
