I saw the 'original' in the Barcelona Maritime Museum and carved it a few months ago. (The galley there is obviously a replica, that of the very original of that of Don Juan von Austria, used in the battle of Lepanto). Despite my oath not to gold leaf anymore I just did it because the original was soooo much leafed. And recognized again, that the carving looked better before the leafing (adding to that, this time I did not use the 22 Karat real gold but a cheaper imitation which shows, sadly) And, again, I forgot to take a photo of the carving before the gold leafing.
