Hi PitrMy first sailing ship model. "Le Soleil Royal". Made from the set of Heller in the scale 1: 100.
Beautiful work!My first sailing ship model. "Le Soleil Royal". Made from the set of Heller in the scale 1: 100.
Thanks.Beautiful!
The sails are made of batiste (very fine cotton or silk) and are dipped in hot starch and formed after cooling. Taut sails are produced by dipping in hot starch, stretching over a frame, and weighting with epoxy resin casting. Heller's set includes plastic sails from which I made resin casts. The resin is heavy enough to tighten the sails, but with smaller sails it can be additionally loaded during forming. You can use hairspray instead of starch, but the hairspray dries too quickly when styling, but can be used to stiffen the sails after shaping. I used a toothpick for modeling.I like the sails and flags extremely - they are very realistic
Maybe once you can show us, how you are making them, with which material and techniques etc.... would be great to learn from you
