Looking for sail for Revell 1/50th scale Viking Long boat

After hours of searching I have come to the conclusion that that picture in the Revell instruction is wrong. Standing rigging was tarred and they would never have used the cleats to fasten them. Since it seems the frames had no holes (and were also not deformed under stress) the only logical point of attachment would have been the upper strake / gunwale, which have rotted away and are beyond inspection.
