Model & Hobby show 2025

Hi Rob,
That look like an interesting show, I might try to get up there later this year. Have you decided how you are going to get your models to the venue?

Dennis, in addition to the shows Rob has mentioned here in England, there are another couple that spring to mind. The main one is:-
Blackpool Model show

There is also the Midland Model Engineering Exhibition which usually has a handful of wooden ship models and even has two marine model classes (scratch built marine models and kit built marine models) in the competition entries. However, the show is mainly for steam enthusiasts, but does have a good selection of trade stands featuring tools applicable to our hobby.
Hi Dave

That would be great if you could travel up, where are you based ?
Yes I have a friend who has a people carrier, so I've booked him in for the transportation of my ships and other stuff I will be taking.
It's still 5 months away so it's still a work in Progress the same as one of my ships. I will be taking 2 fully rigged ships as well as a part built on to show a bit of the construction process, we'll that's the idea atm.

There is nothing wrong with building ships in plastic. Certainly also in scratch. But then I am a bit biased ...... with my 'shares Evergeen' ..... in connection with my current build ..... ;)
Regards, Peter
Definitely Peter

I build Wood and Plastic kits however like Heller's Soleil Royal I am building just now I improvise a lot of wood with plastic kits amongst other extra deck details. The Soleil Royal atm I have gave her full wooden decks throughout as well as wooden masts, yards, Deadeyes, Rigging Blocks and obviously a better quality of rigging thread as well as other thinks like cannon shot, barrels etc..
I try to improvise on every section of a ship I build be it wood or plastic, I also give them cloth sails which I hand sew myself.
Each to there own though everyone is different in their tastes and how the wasn't a finished model to look.

Hi Rob,
I'm just outside Wolverhampton, so Coatbridge isn't such a long haul now the A74(M)/M74 has been completed.

Thanks for mentioning the people carrier. I've always been worried about transporting my models to events, because of the high risk of damage to the delicate rigging. I've thought about hiring a van but that seemed a bit overkill to me, however a people carrier might be the way to go, in future.
