I don’t know. For me, building wooden ship models always seems to be a walk on the razor’s edge of sanity. Make it a full day every day activity and add a production quota, and it really would turn into WORK.

Actually, I think it's probably closer to a sweat shop than a hobby shop! Mauritius has been grinding out ship models of varying quality and accuracy for the export market for many decades now. These are "decorator" models, often sold for far more than their makers ever see by unscrupulous resellers on online auction sites. Vietnam is another entry into the decorator ship model export business. few of us would look twice at one, but there seems to be a stable market for them. If you have a vacation home by the seashore, you've gotta have a ship model or three, dontcha?

Mauritius is well-known for its modelmaking.
The quality may aply to the large public, but modelmakers will apreciate much less.
