Any one with design experience and a passion for building model ship kits may find this interesting and profitable.
We are looking for one or more designers to convert our older Model Shipways models from solid hull construction to plank-on-bulkhead and to update the instructions with photographs and building tips. This is paid work. Familiarity with CAD and Corel is important as bulkheads and components are laser cut.
Model Shipways was founded in 1946 by John Shedd and Sam Milone. Since inception Model Shipways kits have excelled in quality and historical accuracy. We are the second generation of owners of Model Shipways having acquired the company in 1987. We're happy to say that we've created many new kits all of which are plank-on-bulkhead. But many original solid hull kits are no longer produced due to a difficulty in sourcing. Examples of some of the kits requiring conversion are: Sultana, Katy, Elsie, Gjoa, Young America, Phantom, Harriet Lane (small), Kate Cory, and more.
