Musée national de la Marine (Paris) 2025

Hi Wojtas, yes, la Flore was there, near Ocean and Triomphant, but I didn't take pictures of it.
The big Ocean in 1/16 scale was not present.
It's a pity I was hoping they would restore it and show it off.
Did you have to pay some fee to take pictures?

WOW!! What workmanship! Also makes me think about the workmanship of the original shipbuilders’ skills. Thanks for the wonderful photos.

Those are amazing! Thank you for sharing the photos. How much time must have gone into developing the skills to produce such exacting details without computers, internet research, Byrnes power tools, and online shopping simply boggles the mind.

The last one in particular
the hand-sewn sails alone are a work of art.

Wow! These models are stunning. The skill and craftsmanship is close to unbelievable. The original Navy Board models (French and English) really are in a class by themselves. For me they are one half inspirational, as they show what can be accomplished by skilled hands, and one half discouraging that even after decades my work will never approach such results. Thanks for posting!

What intrigues me is what were the craftsmen given to be able to even start an accurate replica of a real ship?
Surely they had access to plans and drawings, not a jot of which has survives?

When you think enough about it, it seems more complex than building the Egyptian pyramids; and we haven't figured that out yet!

no, no fee for pictures. But they keep the place really, really dark... extremely hard to take good pictures
