My 1/72 scale aircraft

Not much hobby time today…mainly chores. But I did manage to get the propeller built and painted and all the lights in the wings and tail added. Tomorrow I should hopefully get the landing gear and canopy on. Then it’s the last of the decals…mainly the underside of the wings. So close to getting this one on the shelf.

I also did some weathering on the yellow stripes. ;)

See ya next time…

The finish of the Boulton Paul Balliol T.2…
The canopy was painted by hand, and the windshield wipers are PE…tiny (next to toothpick)!

These were difficult to handle. I chose to use Wellbond PVA glue for this because it dries crystal clear and won’t melt the plastic like model glue. I also use PVA to attach my canopies, that way any squeeze out will dry clear, and prior to being fully cured I can use a damp paint brush to smooth out along the perimeter of the canopy.

Wipers on above…

And thankfully gauges and interior detail is still visible!
The scheme I chose…

And the finished model…note some of the PVA around the canopy was not fully cured, but rest assured it will become invisible once it is.

And on the shelf with the RAF aircraft…

Soon the Mosquito will join them. But I am going to finish a tropical Spitfire next. ;)
Well that’s it for the BP Balliol T.2!

Today was not all hobby time…after I finished the airplane it was time to take my granddaughter to the park in our neighborhood …

And to the lake next to it…

She enjoys looking for the turtles and watching the ducks and storks. And there is other assorted wildlife to be seen. There is also an alligator or two in there, so you can’t be daydreaming at the edge of the water! ROTF

Tonight I decided to open the F-5E Tiger II kit to look at it…
IMG_0720.jpeg
It’s been years since I built a jet and this is one of my favs…so…why not start now? ROTF

So I built the cockpit, small enough to fit on your finger tip. For some reason this is the most fun part of an aircraft model. And unfortunately one of the areas that can be hard to see.
See ya next time…

Very nice work on the part that everyone is drawn to. It’s where the human interest lies and personally, it’s where I imagine myself in my pilot fantasies. Zooom!

I love the Freedom Fighter Family - good choice!

Thanks! I imagine myself in that seat as well. ;)
Beautiful work on the cockpit Dean. However, that doesn't seem to look like a tropical Spitfire. Or a Mosquito. Squirrel! ROTF
Thanks! You’re right, my Spitfire project is already started, and I may just do a reveal on it verses an entire build. I ordered a different exhaust I’m waiting on. So I will be going back and forth between the two. ;)

Seeing aircrafts I'd like to ask like newbie, is this web itended only for the ships or for other categories like aircrafts and AFVs too?

Seems to be a common question from time to time, which makes me wonder how people find this? Anyway, this section is titled Historical Trailways, Guns, Aircraft and Cars.
There are sections for wood ships, plastic ships, scratch built ships, etc.
Short answer…it’s for a wide range of models but focuses more on ships.
