My new rigging tool

ah thats the best part of the hypo version, it gets under and can be used at an angle. it makes getting under pins in hard to get positions a breeze.

i epoxied my hypo to a dental tool. its holding up quite well.

I totally agree with you. Can you post some photos, so we can see your solution with the dental tool? Thanks

i epoxied the cut off of an aspiration needle to a dental probe. its a great tool, i think the fellow that came up with this idea should market it.

ive always had a problem getting under belay pins even using push tools n forceps... etc, especially with so much other rigging in the way.

Sorry it took so long. Colds lay a beating on me, always wind up in my lungs. probably what will take me. :)
The syringe I used is .050". It has to be small enough to fit between two belaying pins. Pictures for what they are worth. I can take more pictures if it will help. I decided to just use bamboo pieces for belaying pins. I have some turned wooden ones but they break just looking at them. These are not shaped at all but once the rope is belayed and the hank is hung on them you wouldn't be able to see the turning anyway. Oh, i just used black rope so you could see it better.

I should have watched your post sooner. I went ahead and purchased a rigging tool set. They are basically a variety of hooks. I can't tell you what each does as there are no instructions.

The main difference between the tools made by Don Case and Paul Ron and the various types of hooks that can be used, is the possibility of threading the string into the tool. This is what makes the solution decidedly better and the tool truly indispensable.

I was having much trouble belaying on belaying pins and cleats and I came up with this. It's a piece of a syringe tube soldered on a wire and stuck in a chopstick. I just thread the rope through through the tube and reach the tube back and forth around the cleat or pin. It works better than I had hoped.

Thank you Don, for this one. I've made one, but I soldered the tubes at an angle, & yes it worked a treat on my Le Superbe. Please don't expect 'Royalties!' :D Thumbs-Up

I am in the process of rigging “Prince de Neufchâtel” right now and found that in some cases a third hand is needed. I solved the problem a while back with several surgical hemostats I picked up at a flea market. A pair each of 4” and 5” work out well and the fact that they lock really comes in handy when trying to keep the rigging taut.

Hi Geno, I'm looking for the rigging plans/drawings for Prince de Neufchatel (from Constructo). Could you please share the images? Many thanks!
(Apologies for the off-topic)

I’d swear that rigging tool set looks like bunch of sewing needles stuck in brush handles with various bits cut out and/or bent

I am building the “Prince” kit from Model Shipways. Don’t know if it will help. If you think so I will I could text you pics of both pages of plans
