Hi chaps,

Ive been looking at Pavel Nitikins Nef of Winchelsea. Has anyone any experience of the model? Also there doesnt seem to be a UK distibutor (or not one I can find). Is there one? Has anyone experience of ordering direct from Pavels shop in Ukraine?

thanks for any help.

Hi Tony.
I purchased a Nef of Winchelsea kit direct from Pavel Nitikin last year. I haven’t started it yet and maybe will do a build log when I do. The purchasing on line went very smoothly the currency conversion was slick but I had to wait a few months for delivery and I had to pay vat before delivery, so the total cost was around £380.
I’ve also built the Osberg Viking ship, I got that from Vanguard models but they don’t seem to stock it anymore. I did see a report early this year that the electricity supply in Kiev, Ukraine had failed in winter temperatures of minus 18 and this was causing production difficulties.

I use the Charlotte reference as I’ve built two versions of the Charlotte Dundas, the first successful attempt to put a steam engine in a boat, which was used on the Forth and Clyde canal in 1803, and is just a couple of miles from where I live.

Hi,
Thanks for the information. I placed the order on Monday. Good old VAT - the government just has to take its cut of our fun!

Tony
