New Dremel Tool

When it comes to cordless tools, I have a pen-type rotary tool from DSPIAE (I’m actually a big fan of many of their products). For a long time, I couldn’t quite get used to it because of the somewhat cumbersome process of changing bits (two hex nuts). Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t take long to change the bits, but with my frequent bit changes, it just didn’t suit my workflow.
At one point, I found a small adapter from Micro-Mark, and since then, I’ve been using the tool more often, especially with small drill bits. The tool has three speed presets, but even the lowest setting is still a bit too fast for delicate work on plastic models. However. I do appreciate the precision and build quality of this tool, but not as the 'go-to' rotary tool.

Hi there! Could you please share more details about the Micro-Mark adapter? I haven't been able to find it, and I'm wondering if it's no longer available. Thanks so much!

I have two of the Dremel stylos and they are perfect for small wire drill bits and controlled work. One has the collets that came with it and the other has the adjustable Dremel head I purchased separately. I also own a Foredom flex shaft with the SR (1/6 HP motor) and between the three they can do everything I need. I purchased a couple of fixtures from Foredom, the drill press and the bench holder and they allow me more control. I also purchased a Vanda-Lay Acra Mill for more controlled work, milling and small lathe work. The Vanda Lay Mill comes with the standard dremel holder but i purchased the one they have for Foredom H30 standard head. The SR motor from Foredom and the hand pieces are made to take abuse.

Unfortunately, they no longer have those in stock for a very long time. I wanted to buy another one and inquire about restoc, but I received a response that it is discontinued. Here is a catalog number for my adapter: 60301 Micro Drill Chuck.
Here is a similar one, but not exactly the same.

Often when Dremel tools start wearing out it is the carbon motor brushes that need replacement. Not sure about your specific tool but you might try examining your tool to determine access ports for the motor brushes and getting replacement brushes from Dremel and changing out the old warn ones for new. May be worth a close look…
