Jack B is new to this site but a veteran ship- in- the bottle builder. A retired Marine, he learned from a retired tall ship sailor and former Potosi crewman, out of Hamburg, of the famous Flying P line. Duty in Chile resulted in meeting Sr. Carlos Hollander, an old hand who made SIBs in 1970 to augment a small pension. He had made over 1000, many of the five tall ships he crewed on. Several of Hollander's works can be seen in Savannah, at Ships of the Sea Museum. Jack is now in a retirement home in Columbia, SC and recently resumed his hobby. Congratulations to the Forum for an excellent job and useful tool for ship modelers, even if some of us get by with lots less detail in our craft.
