Hello, I joint the Ships of Scale, because of my actual build, which is La Toulonnaise from Billing Boats. And I found an interesting thread with a lot of experience with same set.
I started building ships and other models very early with about 16 years, motivated by my father. The were a lot of "Ravensburger Modellbau Bögen" with different vessels, but the first real one was a so called "Buddelschiff" ship in the bottle; in this case a ball vase with a three mast sailing vessel built as a lamp and present for my girl friend (later wife). Next ship was also a three mast sailing ship in a miniatur dimple bottle with volume of about 50 ml. The ship is 5cm long. 3 cm high and has got 13 sails.
Last year I detected a set of a fishermans boat CUX87 from Billing Boat and the set of fittings too. My father bought it long ago and I then decided to build it. Its now part of our living room. Actually a friend detected a present, he got about 30 years ago: La Tolonnaise from Billing Boats. He would never build it and I got this present, unfortunately without fitting set. But "Kleinanzeigen" and mails to about 30 german distributors of Billing Boats ended with pucharsing the set and I have now startet a new build. I will take a lot of hints from the above mentioned thread, because the set and the description is quite challenging (at least to me).
Nice greeting from Germany to all other members
