Go solid, level, unfinished, and durable on the worktops. (unfinished wood is great).

Have plenty of electrical outlets plumbed in for a wide variety of tools.

Shelves and drawers for tools and materials are important.

Overhead lighting (lots OR movable) is critical.

Think about sequence of work, when you arrange tools (some will always be out/mounted).

Here are a few pictures of my basement shop, when we moved into a new house. I had a blank canvas for this corner.
