Since its only me and my handicapped son maybe I can rig up a sanding booth. We'll be in South Carolina so maybe I can do some outdoors. The house has NO nailed down carpet and that's a plus I think.I set mine up in the garage and installed an AC unit.
I didn't want to do all the sanding inside the house.
Its on my list. Maybe also a reversable window fan also. You should look into one of these then for sure. These are pretty quiet.

Saw dust can be very bad for your health.
Now to look for a chair. I have arthritis-a guft from Uncle Sam along with some other stuff. I set up a list of specs before shopping. Something I learned doong facility maintainence during my working life-scope of project.I set mine up in the garage and installed an AC unit.

Will do. Gotta find a comfortable chair. Lotsa natural light. However nothing will stop CATMAN my cat....Do a search. Put in "Workshop". Sit back and see almost every shop of the SOS crew.
H vave an old 3' by 6' formica topped desk I can saw in half to make long bench space if sawn properly. That's a start. One thing I would consider is all the bench top space you can muster…you need bench top space to assemble the model, space to cut wood and craft deck furniture, space for machinery, space to paint, etc. I regret that I did not add another four feet of bench space in my shipyard. My lesson learned is to have as much bench space as you can muster!
AGREE! Appreciate your input. No more ready made stuff for me. I was thinking buy a chair FIRST. Set the bench height to the chair. Maybe a section for stand up work.I have done a lot of standing at benches - laboratory benches, workshop benches, and about 10 tears ago I realised that in many cases they are too low - especially for doing fine work. The height of the bench should be based on the nature of the work you are doing on it. Most workbenches are 34-36 inches high, and these I realised were too low for me - even though I am only 68 inches tall. So I increased the height of my workbenches to to 39 inches (1Meter). Result - less back strain from bending over all day, a clearer view of what is on the bench, and I am sure that standing straighter is better for my posture in general. Even sitting at the bench on a tall stool it seems to me to be more comfortable than the low benches I and everybody else seems to use.
So my advice is, if you are going to build a new work-space, think carefully about the height of the surfaces you will be working on. .
