New kit from Occre 09/21/2025

I am anxious to see detailed photos to see if the high price yields a high quality kit like the kits from MS Dockyard or some of those from Vanguard.

OcCre does not seem to understand what the market wants. If they are going to try to improve to POF they really should study high quality kits like those from Dockyard. A high price is not necessarily a high quality product.

They understand this market very well. Puppets take everything, regardless of whether it's a remake or a new model. People don't think, society is regressing. They'll simply be numbered 1 of 669...

As much as I have liked a lot of Occre kits in the past the last few have been a bit of a let down and over priced like the Victory and now the Soleil Royal.
I have watched the video twice and have already spotted a few inaccuracies like belaying pins, I also wish occre would do something more positive detail wise with their sails as they are so generic with every kit, the detail or lack of detail is also compromised by the scale of the detail.

I've just finished my heavily improvised Heller Soleil Royal and much prefer to improvise on that than pay well over the money for the Occre one, I know what Occre are trying to do but they really need to do more research and take their time producing these type of kits, modellers want as accurate detail as possible even more so when you are trying to interpert a navy board style ship imho.

Don't ,same materials as their HMS Victory...

They using the same blocks and pins for most of their models as expected, also lool at the longboats they also their generic ones from the other kits and not period accurate.
Shh don't tell them they will ban you from their facebook pageROTF

Based on past correspondence with them regarding the things you have mentioned Rob, they have no interest in suggestions that require research. The response is always the same, we will pass on your note to the technical department. There are never further responses.

Here we go again. I told you so ROTF
I watched the video about it. From the looks of it, it's really beautiful. The guns are well turned and the ornamentation and mouldings are also very nicely done. I think they realised here that improvements need to be made with the HMS Victory to get this type of ship out to the people.

I think the price is extremely high and then I have to shake my head again. Who is going to pay for this?

For 1,800 euros I can get really great things and build a ship that is perfect for me!!!

I'm sorry but for company of that size and this price it's just unacceptable. The OTHER company with OTHER Soleil Royal at least tried to be historically accurate and manged to produce quite nice kit as a ground base for kit bashing.

They again mixed Tanneron and Berain SR and managed to make neither. Why?

Look at Apollo's sculpture - Berain
Afrika and Amerika - the side figurines near korbel - mixed from both

Canons - they look more like swivel guns

It's very pretty - and flashy. People will buy it because of all the "gold" and the urgency created by the "limited edition". A few art deco models will come out of those, most will never be finished.

I watched the video also - they seem to place a lot, and I mean a LOT of emphasis on that coin that comes with it. ???

Furthermore, oak and mahogany? There are very few coarser-grained woods to use for a ship model. Again, appealing to the mass market with the "wow" factor. Sorry, but I think I'll pass.

They didn't change a single diecast part from the model they made for Altaya / Planeta partworks 15? 12? years ago.
Look at other models from last three years. It's exactly same thnk, license probably expired and it's just the way it is.

I divided my free time into couple of project, but from what I see here maybe I should focus purely on my Soleil Royal decors

Blender is really under appreciated program. You can design whole ship and also have files to export for CNC and 3D print.
This is my little side project of XVII century french frigate. I wanted something easy to design with fairly quick and easy ornaments.
As you see bulkhead fillers are no problem to design

I hoped Occre will come up something new and fresh. Heller's accuracy of Tanneron SR but in wood. I guess if you want something good you have to do it yourself ;)
I wanted to share my great news with you, but waited till I have it in my hands, so to speak, but maybe it's right moment. I contacted with Nek0- Mark Yeu who I don't have to introduce. He gave me missing plans for his SR so I can finish whole ship not only stern cross section:D

I totally agree the OTHER kit is a far better starting point if you want to put some work in
The errors are present because the only development work they have done is the oak skeleton. Everything else is the old partwork offering
A big disappointment but not a surprise
