Hi all,
Not sure if this is the right place to post this but thought I should introduce myself as a recent new member. I joined on February 23, 2016, and I’ve spent some time reviewing this really extensive blog. Wow! It is awesome in size and content.
I’ve been building models on and off for many years—about a dozen over the years. Had to take time to raise two boys and hold down a challenging job (building software for Navy systems---missile, fire control, air defense). Most of my models are gone now; sold one, did one on consignment for a woman who gave it to her husband as a gift, had a couple broken or lost in the many home moves I’ve made.
Now that I’m retired, I have more time to give to my favorite hobby. I finished a 1/96 scale model of the pilot boat Phantom a year ago. That will be my last effort at that scale. At 85 years, my eyes are not as sharp nor my fingers as nimble as they used to be.
I’m now half way through building a model of Emmy C. Berry—my first plank-on-frame model (others have been solid hull). This has been a challenge.
I’ll try to get some photos up later.
I’m looking forward to my membership with this very interesting group of model builders.
Walt B.
