Will be listening to the advise you get because I'm planning on starting the Endurance this week.

Ive been looking at drawings of the Endurance and it seems to show metal plates on the lower bow. Do any of you chaps know if this is correct please?

Hi Tony,
What drawings are you using? Endurance did not have metal sheathing at the bow but rather it was specially constructed to withstand ice encounters with a bow made of oak timbers with a cumulative thickness of 52" according to one source. The Endurance Conservation Management Plan in section 2.1.1 states that the maximum hull thickness was 30 inches. It does not state if the bow was thicker though. You may want to contact them and ask about the now timber thickness.

Hi Allan,
Thansk for the information. The drawing i was looking at is the one in the document you attached. I only just realised its actually the Polaris.

I am currently building the Endurance. I am an intermediate modeler at best, using my own color scheme in some places and not worrying too much about historical accuracy. I find this build to be pretty straightforward. My only advice is to watch the YouTube videos from Occre as you build it. Some steps in the instructions are obvious but others are not. I’ve made a number of small mistakes but over all I am happy with my progress.IMG_6902.jpeg
