Hello, my name is Mike.

I'm new to this forum and excited to join the community! I'm an artist and designer currently based in Turin, Italy.

My specific interest in this hobby is not only in building physical scale models, but also in creating highly detailed 3D digital models of historical ships (using software like Blender) to study their architecture and detail. I look forward to learning from all of you and seeing your amazing projects.

Hi Mike, welcome! One of my future projects is to recreate my sailboat Caramel (Wauquiez Amphora 37’). I’m exploring the option of using 3D modeling to go from the information and photos I have to an image-based reference model.

I wasn’t sure which software to use (other than traditional CAD), but it looks like Blender could be a perfect tool for this approach. Thanks for sharing!
