Saw the 1980s series with Richard Chamberlain and then had to get the book by Clavell. Tough act to follow, Definately a nice ship to look at.

The 1980 serie with Richard Chamberlain where good to watch. I think that I'm watch them 3 times in al the years. Love the Japanese landscapes and house. Never read the book. Now I watch the new episode of this year. And they're a good watch. More a remake of the 1980 series but with better visual effects. (More blood when they behead)

Both were great series. Last much better as said above. I hope they bring a second series it has record viewings. I also got excited about seeing ships although S you say not accurate but for some like me good enough to show insight. I als got caught up in gardens houses and customs of Japan in that era.

only that beheading thing in that era. You see a lot of heads flying around.I agree, but this series was superb. Some minor changes kept it unpredictable. Just bought the book to re-read it
