After almost two and a half months of looking but not touching, I finally received my gift.
I used that time to buy the necessary tools. The only things I already owned were a cordless drill and a Ferm multi-tool.
I also used that time to figure out how I want the ST to look in the end:
  • I’m going to use the Artesanía Latina (AL) color scheme, and I’ve already bought the AL paint set.
  • I also prefer the stern of the AL version, especially the rudder section. I’m going to try and have the stern ornaments 3D-printed.
  • Furthermore, I’m still undecided about the figurehead. If I want to stay as close to the AL version as possible, it will be the "Warrior" figurehead. But there is plenty of time to decide.
  • For the deck planks, I will only mark the caulking seams with a pencil (2B or 4B), so no "nails". And I will use the 4-plank system (butt shift) pattern.
If anyone has any suggestions or advice, please don't hesitate to share!
