Hi Folks,
I received help regarding fixing a straight deck to a curved keel, thanks to all helpers, but I don’t have big enough clamps, so used the elastic bands method. That worked perfectly and I am now sanding ready for the next stage of my OcCre Polaris, but, OcCre produce helpful build videos on YouTube.
But I have to scroll for ages to find the Polaris videos as they are a long way down the list.
Is there a quick way to find my way to the Polaris videos ?
I am a long way from finishing but, can anyone recommend my next model, bearing in mind I am a beginner.
I have already built up a nice collection of small tool and will add more as I go along. But the great thing is they are relatively cheap to buy.
Further question, Should you wear a mask when sandpapering ?

Thanks guys.

Dennis

My guess you are at or about video # 10 or #11.
Here's the link to # 10. Bookmark the link. Fast forward to bring up successive videos. As you progress, save the latest link, and repeat.

I do not wear a mask when hand sanding. In the event I use an electric sander, I do wear a mask.
Hope this helps. Good luck with your project.

Hi Henry,
Once again you have come to my rescue, I am actually at No 12, but I understand your instructions and have just made it work. That will save me lots of time than scrolling through all the builds until I came to the Polaris videos.
I actually follow Occre’s brilliant pictorial guide, but also look at the videos.
So thanks again.
As you are much further advanced with building ship models, could I ask what ship model would you advise me to build next. It’s going to be a while before I get there but it would be nice to know what you would suggest.
Many thanks
Dennis

Howdy Dennis,
You might want to be a little careful following the Occre plans & videos too closely as they may lead you into a blind corner. What I try to do is look ahead to see if the build progression makes sense to my way of thinking. I hate to undo work. Also, look to see if there are other steps you can do in parallel whilst waiting for the glue to dry... especially when planking. Perhaps build the deck house, paint or stain some items. Prepare blocks and rings ahead of time.

To be honest, I'm not very advanced at all... it's learning as I go, and hope to remember enough techniques from the current build model to employ on the next one.

As to which model from here... I, too, am wondering. I would like to try a plank on frame (P.O.F.) some time in the not too distant future. Someone suggested the cross section of the HMS Granado would be a good one for a P.O.F. But I'm also looking at the plank on bulkhead version of the Bluenose, or the USCG Harriet Lane paddlewheeler (would be a bit of a challenge), or the steamship Chaperone (another challenge), or ... ??
Now I can understand why some modelers acquire kit upon kit in their To-Be-Built inventory. I think we all look forward to the next one(s)...

Hi again Henry,
That is very helpful advice re following Occre’s vids and plans. I must say due to my inexperience I hadn’t even considered the blind alleys. I will now look further ahead before progressing rather than follow blindly.
Thanks also for your take on future builds.
I must delve further into this website to see how others fair when building, but its early days on my path.
Many thanks
Dennis
