Oliver Cromwell

Thank you Pug very kind of you and much appreciated. You bring calm where it is needed.
Let's focus on what is happening here. A build lof of a plastic Airfix (Classic) figure.
(And I agree with your sentiment regarding the "Cowboy and Indian movies". ) ;)
Here in my country (South Africa) it is winter. In the Cape Penisula in particular we have a very wet winter. Everything takes ages to dry, filler glue, acrylics and then the ... the oils. Oh my that takes forever. But ... I did get some bench time in.
So far Mr Cromwell/English Civil War Cavalry figure has found his legs and I did some work on the helmet. The latter still W.I.P (Like the rest, I suppose).
The progress on the figurer is slow yes, but then I have the time to dream about all the ships that I would like to build ... so we saty with the nautical theme.

OOPS! You were supposed to chop off the King's head - DUHH Exclamation-Mark ;)

Sorry, Ettienne, I just couldn't resist it!

Work continues. I have now blocked in most of the colours on the figure.
What is left? A lot still. The sash needs to be painted. The rest of the sash needs to be added, the spurs, scabbard and sword (which is also still a w.i.p). And then weathering, highlighting, shading, painting some details and a bit more. But Mr Cromwell is coming on ... I find myself that I need a lot of motivation to continue work on the figure. It has been a while and my motivation to continue the work on the figure can easily just wander off elsewhere... And I hate it when an acrylic goes all semi-gloss. I shall not name the brand ...

Must be doing something right, Ettienne (248 current readers).

Looking foreward to the finish with this intriguing project and to see the results of your painting skills.

Is it just me, but doesn't the face look too big?
It is what what it is.

Thank you Pug. The face. Yes, I was wondering about it. It is actually too big in proportion to the rest of the figure. But as you so rightly say, it is what it is. I do hope to do some more work over the weekend. Would love to fisnish it. It a it's been a while now. Oh, a week ago I stood with Charles I in my hands. The figure that is. Still thinking whether to buy him. I do not want a civil war in my display cabinet...

Get him! Maybe they can get along this time.
