It was indeed made of leather. Apparently a light coloured leather. After I took the picture, I saw on the figure that most of my attempted texture rubbed off. I used oils which was not quite dry (in our whether not dry after three days) and me handling the figure most of the "texture" rubbed off. Touched it up in the mean time.E, isn't the 'coat' made of leather too?

Good observation, and I share your opinion. Yes the yellow ochre oil is indeed quite yellow. I do hope that after some washes with Mahogany (acrylic) it can be toned down a bit. To replicate leather is quite a challenge I came to realise. It’s looking great, but I might recommend something a liitle less yellow for the wear on the boots.
Thank you !!wow very nice!!

You have painted and realised the figure really beautifully. It looks really great. Especially the weathered colours.Thank you !!
Excellent…love your use of colors and techniques to achieve realism. And with that… I shall call it done.
What a journey it’s been—full of peaks, troughs, and the occasional emotional ambush. I’ve felt everything from mild rage to fleeting triumph, and somewhere in between, I learned the quiet satisfaction of sticking with a project until the bitter (or beautifully painted) end.
Will I tackle another figure from this range? Highly doubtful. There is also a Charles I lurking at my local hobby shop, but frankly, the poor chap’s facial proportions are also a bit tragic. I’d love to say I could rescue him with sheer skill, but alas, I’m not quite at the level where I can paint my way out of anatomical injustice.
Then again… perhaps the base coat on the face could’ve been darker? But let’s be honest—the UK isn’t exactly basking in Mediterranean sunlight. Pallor is practically patriotic.
