Started this build (my first) in Feburary. Maybe not the most clever thing to do since I lost the sight in my left eye in Janurary. I have been on the docket (several times; canceled) for surgery that will restore it. Scheduled now for Wednesday.
What a challenge without depth perception. A large percent of time picking stuff off the floor that gets mishandled.

Found the transom and bulwarks to be unclear on the prints. Cutting the false stanchions was a trick until I worked out a method to cut them.
Biggest chanlenge now is the order to do things. Items are varnishing the decks, painting the waterways, installing the bulwaks, painting stanchions, finishing the transom. Seems any one thing done first interferes with later tasks. But, I'll ork through it.
Holding off on hull painting to reduce dings while working on other items.

Hope the pic comes through.

Good luck with your eye surgery.

I have neuropathy in both hands so am often dropping things. I then have to get down on the floor and have a hard time getting back up and hopefully will not hit my head on something in the process.

I recently bought a magnetic pickup device from Amazon. I believe that it cost less than $10. It is a telescoping shaft with a magnet on one end and a handle on the other. The magnet is strong enough to pick up most tools like small pliers. It’s also great for picking up tiny drill bits that I can’t see where they have fallen. I just “sweep” the general area with the magnet.

Unfortunately of course it won’t pick aluminum or brass.

I have one of those telescoping magnets too. I also bought one of those 'grabber' sort of things, like the robot's hands on 'Lost in Space' to pick up Amazon's plastic packages, small boxes, etc. As for small, non-ferrous parts that are too small for my grabbers, and non-magnetic... I just use my magnet with two-sided tape on the end... provided my old eyes can actually find that small part that fell onto the floor and quickly bounced into obscurity!

When I was young, I used to look at old folks and think how easy life was for them in their golden years. Now I'm one of them and know better!

I lost sight in my left eye 12 years ago. Multiple attempts at surgery were unsuccessful.

I manage but I cannot judge a right angle without using a set square and find anything like threading a needle is almost impossible. I also suffer from "dropsy" as my late wife used to call it. It's a right pain in the backside to try to pick anything up off the floor - advancing years don't help.

But hey - I am addicted to building boats big and small. Like today - 3 hours working on a 12ft long steamboat in the garage and then 2 hours working on one of several models under construction. Current favourite is the Amati Riva Aquarama for radio control (renamed by Amati as "Italian Runabout" presumably because of copyright issues).

Hi. It’s good to see that you started a build-log. I also see that you have posted several question in separate posts. Now you can post them here with related pictures.
What I know about your build it is about the version of Model Shipways / Model Expo type 2130.
I posted this link today also in another MB-BN build-log, but here you find the —> BN list of Build-logs <—. In the second half you will find 12 other build-logs of MS-BN’s. For sure it will help you during your build.
Hope to see some progress of your build soon.
Regards, Peter
