Nice upgrades; my work area is so tight if I swing an elbow a little too far out, I either get cut on something or knock something over. You know I've always been curious about those swing around lighted magnifiers; I may just have to try one, although not sure where I'd put it (no room)

Yea could be a bit tight...BUT it is so well organized - impressive. and I so like the natural light from the window...

Regarding the lighted magnifier - hard to pass up at $30 USD.. and with Amazon win-win - it can always go back - Yes very tight spaces but, I think that I saw a 2" open area on the right side of your table near the back

Eish....I most definitely will not post pics of my shipyard..... . I do not use a magnifier as what I think looks good suddenly turns into a redo.

PS: your close-up images are, by the way, all so perfect - must be a lot of AI in the images that you post???.
But I hear you. I and poss. some of us also cringe looking at close-ups of our work - I do... but, I do have rum downstairs for those emergencies.
then I go back upstairs and it all looks just about right.

Hmmm... need to go buy more - with weekend coming up...

Have decided that above the height of the deck planks the bulwarks need a darker dusting, along with the cross bracings. Will revisit work with the airbrush
I'm done with the outer hull. added some dustings of Mahogany, Rosewood, Dark Walnut, and then a final light dusting of again Patina.

The painting on the hull and deck is looking very authentic, John.

Sharing a personal work area improvement - as is often said, “what a difference a day makes”. Hope that you don’t mind my brief indulgence….
My cluttered work table was annoying - lighting(s), and the much needed magnifying lamp that was too heavy and bulky also needed an upgrade.
Amazon (as always) delivered. A delightful improvements!!
OK now time to get back to the airbrush

Be careful most do NOT also have the lateral rotation there as well. That would have been a deal breaker had it not also had that feature.
And given your space you want the angle to be exactly as you need.

I have been able to position this exactly as needed.

Yes, I made sure it can rotate at the base as well like my standard table clamp lights do.

Now trying to “replicate” (mimic is a better word) the possible look of water seals from the inside of the clinker planking (as noted about how Vikings did this in a previous post). Will also “play” with the airbrush to add a bit of a tarnished uneven visual look --TBD.

Airbrush and I are new friends. Yikes -- I will only do this for the area where planks will be moved aside - so not full ship detail issue.
