Guys help.

Is it true that at that time (middle of 18th century) parrel were used by the British navy only on the foreyard, thr main yard and fore and main topsail yard, plus on the mizzen yard for a lateen.... all other yards were attached only with rope?

I am certainly not an expert on the era or country, but the method that you describe is pretty much very accurate as far as the use of parrels and where they go. I think the Parrels were used mainly to assist the Yard being lifted or lowered as it is the "weight" is the concern - you probably know that the parrels acted like a crude set of ball bearings if you will. So, the lighter yards (further up) were not really heavy enough to warrant the use of parrels.

@Donnie thank you for your kind response, its very comforting to know that I was even about correct. So your comments encourage me to proceed in this way with my model feeling that at least am within the frames of reality.

Thank you again
Christos
